Full power...   MOZART, MESSIAEN, REICH et.al.

We have always been committed to supporting and promoting young musicians – most recently through the Auftakt programme in collaboration with Innsbruck’s Haus der Musik, the Musikmuseum and the Precollege of the Tiroler Landeskonservatorium. It encourages young people to develop outstanding programmes and present them to an audience of music lovers.

The Ensemble Nonchalant takes us on a journey through the world of clarinet music, showcasing the instrument in all its diversity with works ranging from Mozart to Beffa and from Messiaen to Reich: in both solo and ensemble settings.

The focus is on works from the 20th and 21st centuries, permitting the clarinet to open up some previously unknown sound spaces. Messiaen’s Abîme des oiseaux induces a state of extreme concentration, while Berio’s Lied and Scelsi’s Ixor explore timbre. Reich’s New York Counterpoint offers a striking contrast of movement, pulse and superimposition, while Beffa’s Feux d’artifice presents the ensemble with sharp contours and shifting characters. For the audience, a rich musical cosmos unfolds.
