This is the first appearance in the Tyrol of the young Sollazzo Ensemble, which was founded in Basle in 2014. Anna Danilevskaia brings together young musicians with a variety of artistic backgrounds: early, classical and contemporary music and also theatre. The diversity of the musicians is reflected in the execution of the music. A well known piece, thanks especially to Montserrat Figueras, Jordi Savall and Hespèrion XX, is El Cant de la Sibilla. The apocalyptic poem, which evokes the end of the world, was sung once a year during the Christmas period in communities of Catalonia – a tradition that has persisted for centuries and continues to this day on Mallorca. While celebrating the birth of Christ, the faithful are reminded of the forthcoming Last Judgement and admonished to live a better life.

The Sollazzo Ensemble will help us escape the pre-Christmas pressures for a while and open our hearts to Advent and Christmas with music from the late Middle Ages and the Renaissance – a time of transition and new departures.
